(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Isaiah 40:31 Foundation and Publix in Seneca, began this morning to distribute 125 Thanksgiving meals to families in Oconee County.

“Last Christmas, an anonymous donor with the Isaiah 40:31 foundation made a $5,000 donation that allowed deputies to hand out $50 bills to citizens and families in our county,” said Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. “This year, this anonymous donor made a donation to purchase Thanksgiving meals for 125 families in Oconee County to allow them to have a Thanksgiving meal. This will have a positive effect on approximately 400 – 500 of our citizens. This morning, our deputies began to deliver these meals to those families in our County.”

Working with our partners at the Publix location in Seneca, the meals that are being distributed consist of a turkey, candied yams, gravy, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls and a pumpkin pie. The families, who are receiving the meals, were nominated by citizens in Oconee County who then notified the Sheriff’s Office. The goal is to help to families that can benefit the most.

“The anonymous donor who gave the donations this year, and last year, did so to help others as well as continue to help the Sheriff’s Office build positive relationships between law enforcement and our citizens, as he is a supporter of law enforcement,” said Sheriff Crenshaw. “What is most important for us is that there are 125 families in Oconee County this year that will not be hungry and will have a full Thanksgiving meal so they can enjoy this special time of the year with their families and friends. On behalf of the women and men at the Sheriff’s Office, we thank the Isaiah 40:31 foundation and Publix in Seneca for partnering with us to help others.”

According to the King James Version of the Bible, Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
