The highly trained and skilled deputies of the Investigations Bureau work each day to solve complex crimes and investigate incidents requiring specialized techniques.  Additionally, the School Safety Unit protects all public schools in the county.

The Judicial Services Bureau is comprised of the Courthouse Unit and Detention Center Unit, and is primarily responsible for the safety and security of inmates and the judicial system in our county.

A specialized group of deputies, the Special Operations Bureau is comprised of a variety of units that focus on the highly specialized tasks of law enforcement.

The first "First Responders", the Communications Bureau are the true front line of public safety, answering 911 calls and non-emergency calls.  Dispatchers gather information and connect callers with the appropriate resources.

About Us

Sheriff Mike Crenshaw leads the men and women that serve to protect the citizens who choose to make this community their home as well as the many visitors that frequent our beautiful county. Oconee County is home to approximately 80,000 residents. The sheriff's office patrols 674 square miles which includes 47 square miles of water. The Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement services in the unincorporated areas of our county as well as the operation and safety of the Oconee County Detention Center, the 911 Emergency Operations Center, and the Oconee County Animal Shelter.
