The Missing Persons / Unsolved Cases Unit works dilligently to investigate all reported missing persons in Oconee County, SC, as well as continuing to investigate cold cases that have remained unsolved. Investigators follow up on tips that come on in these cases and works tireless to find the missing pieces of information that could bring closure to the families affected by these cases.
In cooperation with CrimeStoppers of Oconee County, SC, the Oconee County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer, and the Community Services Unit, all reported missing persons, regardless of age, are thoroughly investigated by the Missing Persons / Unsolved Cases Unit.
In 2024, the Missing Persons Unit investigated 43 new incidents of missing persons / runaways, with most cases being resolved within the first 24 hours from the time of the initial report!
