VISION STATEMENT

A county that compassionately and responsibly creates a more humane environment and opportunities for animals, while providing professional services to enhance public safety for citizens in Oconee County through education, compassion, and respect.

MISSION STATEMENT

The men and women of the Sheriff's Office Animal Control are committed to making Oconee County a safer place to live, work, and play.  All members of our Animal Control are comitted to providing a safe haven for animals through excellent care and humane treatment, protecting animals from harm, and providing customer service and humane education to the residets of our county to live safely, responsibly, and respectfully with animals.  This mission will be accomplished by forging relationships with the community we serve, maintaining high standards of accountability, and proactively but fairly enforceing our laws, and working with the Oconee Humane Society to promote and provide healthy adoptions.

WHAT WE DO:

  • Enforce County and State laws regarding stray, dangerous, nuisance, and unwanted domestic animals.

  • Investigate animal abuse and neglect.

  • Provide care and humane treatment for unwants, abandoned, neglected, stray, impounded animals.

  • Protect the community from dangerous animals.

  • Offer resources and educate the community on how to best live with pets.

  • Transfer adoptable animals to community partners to find new homes.\

  • The humane disposition of sick, dangerous, or injured animals
