Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Kidnapping and Domestic Violence Charges

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------An investigation into a May 2021 domestic violence incident has led to the arrest of a Seneca man on multiple charges, including Kidnapping and Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.


49 year old Daniel Rey Denney of Evergreen Forest Drive was arrested yesterday on three outstanding arrest obtained by an investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division. Denney was also charged with Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime in regards to the same incident.


A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division began an investigation on May 19th after responding to the hospital in reference to an assault and a patient receiving treatment. The victim told the deputy that an altercation between her and Denney turned physical on May 18th. Denney later told the victim to stay inside and made additional threats towards her.


When Denney left the residence, the victim was able to get transportation to the hospital.


According to arrest warrants obtained by an investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division, the victim was beaten on the face and body. Denney is also charged in warrants with holding a knife to the victim’s throat while making threats to kill the victim. Denney is also charged with unlawfully confining the victim.


At this time, Denney remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $300,000 surety bond.
