(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------An investigation into a reported sexual assault in May of this year has led to the arrest of a West Union man on a charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree.
21 year old Joe Douglas Eugene Rogers, of Doc Sanders Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:21pm yesterday. Rogers was released today from the Detention Center on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
On May 13th, a deputy with the Uniform Patrol Division received information of a reported sexual assault. After gathering initial evidence, the case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, Rogers was charged with having sexual intercourse with a victim, who is a minor, on May 7th of this year. The incident involved only one victim.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, and due to preserving the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing any further information at this time, including any and all information that could potentially identify the victim.
