Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Charges Walhalla Man with First Degree Burglary

Cody Christian Dean Lecroy

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------An investigation into a home break-in, where three firearms were stolen, has led Investigators from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office to charge a Walhalla man with First Degree Burglary.

31 year old Cody Christian Dean Lecroy of Rock Crusher Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 8:35pm yesterday. Lecroy has also been charged with one count of Grand Larceny in the same investigation. At this time, Lecroy remains in custody in jail pending a bond hearing.

Deputies responded to an address on Big Brown Drive near West Union last Wednesday afternoon in regards to reports of a burglary. Deputies met with the victim and began an investigation.

Deputies discovered evidence that someone had forced entry into the residence and that three firearms, two rifles and a handgun, had been stolen along with a bowl that contained some change. The combined value of the firearms stolen, according to deputies, is approximately $2,200.00.

As the investigation continued and evidence was gathered in the case, it was determined that Lecroy had entered the residence without consent of the owner, with the intent to commit a crime and had stolen the firearms last week sometime between August 8th and August 10th.

An element of the crime of First Degree Burglary is that Lecroy was armed with a deadly weapon upon leaving the residence of the victim.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
