Crimestoppers of Oconee County, Inc. Board Member Recognized at Recent Regional Crimestoppers Meeting




Melanie Baker

(Walhalla, SC)———————————A board member of our local Crimestoppers of Oconee County, Inc. was recognized at the Southeastern Crimestoppers Association’s 43rd Annual Training Conference in Virginia Beach, VA. 


Melanie Baker of Seneca received the 2023 Citizen of the Year Award in recognition of her service to Crimestoppers of Oconee County, where she serves as the Secretary, and her service to the SC State Crimestoppers Council where she serves as Treasurer.

Melanie received her award on April 17th, 2024 at an awards ceremony attended by fellow board member Norman Dukes of Walhalla, Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Captain Jimmy Dixon and Oconee Crimestoppers Coordinator Helen Westmoreland.   


Melanie has been a board member of Crimestoppers of Oconee County, Inc. for three years.  Her duties as Secretary of the local board include the taking and distributing of meeting minutes at each board meeting, helping to promote the Crimestoppers program and assisting the Coordinator and the President of the board with other functions of the agency.


“I appreciate Ms. Baker’s dedication and commitment to Crimestoppers,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw.  “She is always willing to help in any way that can assist.”
