Donation Allows Sheriff’s Office to Help Citizens in Oconee County at Christmas

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A donation by the Isaiah 40:31 Foundation given to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has allowed deputies to spread some Christmas Cheer this year.

Last Christmas, the Foundation donated $5,000.00 that allowed deputies to hand out $50.00 in cash to citizens and families in need. This Christmas, the Foundation has donated another $5,000.00 to the Sheriff’s Office, which went towards the purchase of one hundred $50.00 gift cards for use at Ingle’s Supermarket locations in Seneca, Westminster and West Union.

Last month, through a donation from the Foundation, the Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Publix location in Seneca to purchase Thanksgiving meals for 125 families in Oconee County. The families who received the meals were nominated by Oconee County citizens.

The recipients of the gift cards were selected based on past interaction along with identifying those with children that could possibly go without meals over the holiday break from school.

According to the King James Version of the Bible, Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Sheriff Crenshaw said “I appreciate the generosity and kindness shown by this Foundation that has a heart to help others. Our deputies were blessed to be able to build better relationships with our citizens who were very appreciative of the gift cards. We are accustomed to seeing tears of sadness but this allowed our staff to see tears of joy.”
