(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A West Union woman remains in jail today, on a combined $375,000 surety bond, after her arrest overnight on multiple drug charges, including a charge of Trafficking in Fentanyl.

39 year old Megan Nichole Beech, of Big Brown Drive, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 2:34am this morning.  Beech has also been charged with one count each of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Heroin and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Hydromorphone).

Late yesterday evening, a Deputy assigned to the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement (P.A.C.E.) team was conducting a property check at a Westminster business.  During the property check, the Deputy observed a suspicious vehicle that was behind the business.  The Deputy observed a white female in the driver’s seat of the vehicle that appeared to be unconscious.

The Deputy conducted a welfare check on the woman, who then woke up and opened her door as the Deputy approached.  The Deputy made contact with the woman and received consent to search the vehicle.

During the course of the investigation, the Deputy seized a quantity of narcotics.  Beech was placed under arrest and transported initially to the hospital for precautionary reasons.  After her release from the hospital, Beech was transported to jail.  The vehicle was towed away from the scene.

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, approximately 9.3 grams of Fentanyl was seized.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
