(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Gaffney man was taken into custody today, by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, on charges related to a 2020 homicide investigation.

23 year old Larry Thomas Henderson, of Suze Street, was transported from the Cherokee County Detention Center to the Oconee County Detention Center and served with arrest warrants on charges of Murder and Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime.

Henderson was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 1:44pm today.

At a bond hearing today, Henderson’s bond was denied on both charges. Henderson will appear before a Circuit Court Judge, at a later time, regarding his bond. A hold has also been placed on Henderson by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Henderson has been charged with the shooting death of 63 year old Roger Qualls, which occurred on Sunday, August 30th, 2020. Arrest warrants were obtained against Henderson on June 16th, 2021. Henderson was arrested on June 16th, 2021 on unrelated charges in Cherokee County and has been in custody in jail there since that time.

On August 30th, 2020, the E-911 Communications Center received a call around 2:15pm that afternoon in reference to a report of a man who had been shot. The call came from an address on Qualls Hill Drive, which is near the Madison Community off of Highway 123 near the South Carolina/Georgia border. The caller that made the initial report was not the victim.

Deputies and paramedics were dispatched to the scene as well as Investigators and the Crime Scene Unit. On scene, Investigators discovered a white male with gunshot wounds. The Coroner’s Office was also called to the scene and Coroner Karl Addis identified the victim as Roger Qualls.

The Sheriff’s Office sought the public’s help, at that time, for any information in regards to the homicide.

Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Henderson shot Qualls multiple times with a small caliber pistol.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
