(Walhalla, SC)-----------------------------------An Oconee County man remains in jail today after his arrest Wednesday on multiple charges related to a Monday evening shooting incident.

34 year old Patrick Andrew Kelly, who has listed addresses of Whitmire Church Road in Tamassee and Lydia Mtn. Road near Salem, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 7:41pm yesterday.  Kelly was taken into custody during a Warrant Service at an address on Smarty Jones Drive, which is near Country Junction Road.

Arrest warrants were obtained against Kelly charging him with one count each of Attempted Murder, Discharging a Firearm into a Dwelling and Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime.

Kelly was denied bond during an initial appearance before a Judge.  Kelly will appear before a Circuit Court Judge, at a later time, regarding his bond.  Kelly will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released from jail.

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on Monday evening of this week after Deputies assigned to the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to an address on Marshall Kelly Drive, which is near Blue Ridge Boulevard, in reference to a report of a shooting incident in which the homeowner said that someone was shooting at his house.

Upon arriving on scene, a Deputy observed where gunshots had struck the residence.  The homeowner did not sustain any injuries in the incident.  During the course of the investigation, Deputies recovered multiple spent 9mm casings, as well as multiple spent Creedmoor 6.5 caliber rifle round casings.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Bureau, along with a Crime Scene Technician, responded to the incident scene in order to continue to gather evidence.  A Violent Crimes Investigator, after consultations with a Judge, obtained a Search Warrant to further assist with the investigation.

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, and after further consultations with a Judge, arrest warrants were obtained against Kelly.  According to an arrest warrant, Kelly shot at the victim while the victim was standing on his front porch.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
