Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Announces Additional Arrests in the Second Drug Round-Up of 2023




(Walhalla, SC)---------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing today additional arrests in the second drug round-up of 2023.


The Sheriff’s Office began the operation with a meeting and briefing at 8:30am on Thursday morning, September 28th at the Law Enforcement Center in Walhalla.


The Sheriff’s Office obtained arrest warrants on 26 subjects. The arrest warrants were obtained based on controlled purchases of narcotics by undercover operatives working at the direction of the Sheriff’s Office. Among the narcotics purchased during the controlled buys were Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Fentanyl, Heroin, Methamphetamine, and Prescription Medication.


As of 1pm today, 16 subjects had been arrested so far and/or were already in jail and will or have been served their warrants. Here are the names of the latest suspects arrested:

· Webster Maurice Thompson

47 years old

Seneca, SC

Distribution of Cocaine – 3 counts

Thompson was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:47pm on Tuesday, October 10th. At this time, Thompson remains in jail on a combined $75,000 surety bond.


· Angela Compton Ibarra

40 years old

Seneca, SC

Trafficking in Methamphetamine – 1 count

Ibarra has also been charged with one count of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime – 1 count

Ibarra was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 1:47am on Wednesday, October 11th. At this time, Ibarra remains in jail on a combined $30,000 surety bond.


· Benedict A Ramsey

44 years old

Seneca, SC

Trafficking in Methamphetamine – 2 counts

Ramsey has also been charged with one count of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine.

Ramsey was also served arrests warrants on one count each of Forgery and Financial Transaction Card Fraud in relation to two separate fraud investigations conducted by the Fraud Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

At this time, Ramsey remains in jail on a combined $134,250.00 surety bond.
