(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Seneca man remains in jail today after a weekend arrest on a charge of Kidnapping as a result of a domestic disturbance investigation.
21 year old Sergio Edward Mast, who has listed addresses of Gloria Lane and Snow Creek Church Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:27pm Saturday. Mast was also charged with one count each of Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature, Resisting Arrest and Breach of Peace.
Mast was denied bond on all charges during an initial court appearance. Mast will appear before a Circuit Court Judge, at a later time, regarding his bond.
Late Saturday morning, Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to the Gloria Lane address, near Seneca, in reference to a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arriving on scene to begin an investigation, a Deputy attempted to enter the residence to speak with the victim, an adult female.
During that time, Mast spoke with a loud voice and said that Deputies did not have permission to enter the residence. Deputies attempted to place Mast in handcuffs; however, Mast walked away and refused and resisted officer commands. After placing Mast in handcuffs, Mast continued to yell, causing a disturbance while continuing to resist and not willingly getting into the back seat of a Deputy’s patrol vehicle.
As the investigation continued, a Deputy observed a physical manifestation of injuries on the victim. There were also two juveniles inside of the residence during the incident that occurred. The victim also stated that Mast had threatened physical harm to the victim if he ever went back to jail.
According to arrest warrants obtained by a Deputy, Mast choked and struck the victim and threw her onto a couch. Mast is also charged with unlawfully seizing and confining the victim and did resist a lawful arrest by a law enforcement officer.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
