Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Westminster Man in Child Sexual Abuse Material Investigation

(Walhalla, SC)-----------------------------------A Westminster man remains in jail after his arrest last week by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office on charges of having Child Sexual Abuse Material in his possession.
76 year old Anthony Carl Michaud was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 4:08pm last Wednesday, September 9th by a Deputy assigned to the Warrants Unit. In all, Eller has been charged with 10 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Third Degree.
Michaud has received a combined $90,000 surety bond. Michaud will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released from jail.
Agents assigned to the Special Operations Bureau, as part of the Internet Crimes against Children Task Force, began an investigation in 2025 after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding Child Sexual Abuse Material. Based upon the cyber tip received, Agents began work to gather evidence in order to identify potential person(s) of interest who may have been in possession of the material.
Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, Agents executed a search warrant last Wednesday at Michaud’s home on Whispering Pines Drive, which is located near Westminster. Additional evidence was gathered at the scene through the use of the search warrant.
After consultations with a Judge, and based upon probable cause that was established, Agents obtained the arrest warrants against Michaud. According to the arrest warrants, Michaud possessed Child Sexual Abuse Material that showed minors engaged in sexual activity or in a state of sexually explicit nudity.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and potential additional charges could be forthcoming in the case.
