Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Person Wanted in Utica Mill Hill Shooting Investigation

(Walhalla, SC)-----------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the arrest this morning of an 18 year Seneca teenager who was charged by Investigators in relation to the Monday evening Utica Mill Hill shooting.

18 year old Nevada Jaziah Normia Jones of Seneca was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 9:48am today on charges of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle. 

Jones turned herself in at the Law Enforcement Center in Walhalla. 

On Wednesday, 18 year old Javon Gaylin O’Neal Leonard and 18 year old Damajion Sincere Patton, both of Seneca, were arrested.  Both Leonard and Patton were also charged with one count each of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle in relation to the same investigation. 

At this time, Jones remains in jail pending her bond hearing.  Both Leonard and Jones remain in jail, at this time, after each received a combined $225,000 surety bond during a bond hearing.  Leonard and Jones will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should they be released from jail.    

Leonard, Patton and Jones were charged in the shooting of a 17 year old Monday evening on Goddard Avenue near Sirrine Street.  According to arrest warrants, a 9mm handgun was used and the victim was shot in the back of the head.

The victim was transported to the hospital by helicopter Monday evening.  The teenager remains hospitalized, at this time.

According to Investigators, the victim was driving a vehicle, a 2014 Dodge Dart, when another vehicle, a 2012 Hyundai Elantra, approached from behind.  Shots were fired from the Hyundai into the victim’s vehicle.  The victim was struck by the gunfire.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  Investigators would also like to thank the Seneca Police Department for their help this week in this investigation.
