Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Salem Woman on Multiple Ill Treatment of Animal Charges

(Walhalla, SC)————————————–An investigation by Oconee County Animal Control has led to the arrest of a Salem woman on 17 counts of Ill Treatment of Animals.


29 year old Kristin Elaine Galloway, of Stamp Creek Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 1:55am this morning. Galloway was released from jail today on a combined $85,000 personal recognizance bond.


An Animal Control Officer responded to an address on Stamp Creek Road on Tuesday morning of this week in regards to a report of a dog attacking livestock and killing some chickens. Based upon information that the Animal Control Officer received, the dog ran across the street to a separate address on Stamp Creek Road.


After arriving on scene to search for the dog, the Officer observed other dogs on the property who did not have proper care or treatment, which included being underweight or without clean drinking water or without adequate shelter.


Based on the conditions observed, Animal Control Officers seized 17 dogs, 13 adult dogs and 4 puppies.


Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, Animal Control Officers obtained 17 arrest warrants against Galloway.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
