Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Sexual Exploitation Charges

Robert Jonathan Oakley

(Walhalla, SC)------------------------------A Seneca man remains in jail today after his arrest over the weekend on three counts each of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Third Degree and Distributing Harmful Material to Minors.

46 year old Robert Jonathan Oakley, of Deerwood Lane, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 10:02pm on February 25th. Oakley was given a combined $30,000 surety bond on the six charges. Oakley was also served with two outstanding Magistrate Bench Warrants.

In December of last year, an Investigator with the Criminal Investigations Bureau received information in reference to a reported relationship involving Oakley and a teenager. An Investigation began and evidence was gathered in the case.

Based on the evidence gathered, it was determined that Oakley had sent obscene images of himself to the teenager. According to arrest warrants, Oakley also possessed obscene images of a minor.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, and in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the minor involved, the Sheriff’s Office will not release or provide any information that could, either directly or indirectly, identify the teenager in this investigation.
