Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Trafficking in Heroin Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The execution of a search warrant, by Narcotics Agents of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, led to the arrest of a Seneca man on a charge of Trafficking in Heroin.


46 year old Stephen Maxwell Bruce of Peachtree Lane was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:12pm Thursday. As a result of evidence gathered during the operation yesterday, Bruce has also been charged with one count each of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime.


The search warrant was executed during the morning yesterday at the Peachtree Lane address. Narcotics Agents seized a quantity of narcotics, firearms and drug paraphernalia. There were other individuals who were located inside of the residence, however, they were not charged and were released.


The Department of Social Services was contacted due to a child being located inside of the residence. The child was not under the care of Bruce and was under the care of one of the individuals who was located at the residence. The child was turned over to a family member, who was not at the residence when the search warrant was executed. DSS did create a safety plan for the child and the family member.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. At this time, Bruce remains in jail pending a bond hearing.
