Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Spartanburg County Man on Drug Trafficking Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Spartanburg County man remains in jail today, pending a bond hearing, after his arrest early this morning on a Drug Trafficking Charge.

 

20 year old Corban Samuel Vander-Ploeg was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 3:29am today.  Vander-Ploeg was also charged with two counts of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime.

 

A Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division, on routine patrol in the southern part of Oconee County this morning at around 1:31am, observed a gray Mercedes sitting in the parking lot of a business on Lakeside Circle, which is near S. Highway 11 and I-85. 

 

The business was not open at the time the Deputy observed the vehicle.  The Deputy pulled into the parking lot and made contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Vander-Ploeg.  Vander-Ploeg told the Deputy that he was sleeping in the parking lot. 

 

The Deputy observed a firearm inside of the vehicle and also detected an odor of Marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle.  Upon further investigation, the Deputy discovered a sealed package inside of the vehicle that contained a quantity of THC vapes inside.  The Deputy also recovered a quantity of Marijuana inside of the vehicle, as well as two firearms. 

 

Vander-Ploeg was arrested and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center. 

 

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, and according to an arrest warrant, Vander-Ploeg was in possession of approximately 1,504 THC Vape Pens, containing a 93% concentration of THC. 

 

According to the arrest warrants, Vander-Ploeg also possessed a loaded and chambered .45 caliber Glock 41 handgun with an extended magazine and a Glock 26 9mm handgun. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigations.
