Two other persons, 28 year old Tabatha Marie Moore, who has listed addresses in Walhalla and Seneca, and 20 year old Carter Lewis Deaton-Crooks, of Safety Harbor Road in West Union, were also charged as a result of the investigation.

Moore, who was booked into jail at around 4:02am yesterday, was charged with one count each of Possession of Methamphetamine and Accessory before the Fact of a Felony.

Deaton-Crooks was charged with one count of Assault and Battery by Mob – Second Degree.  Deaton-Crooks was booked into jail at around 1:30pm Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation late Monday evening after responding to an address on Davis Hill Road near Thrasher Road, which is near West Union, in reference to a report of an assault.  Deputies spoke with the victim, an adult male, who stated that two men, identified as Gunn and Deaton-Crooks, got out of a vehicle and assaulted him.

The victim also stated that Gunn and Deaton-Crooks returned to the vehicle, with Gunn in the driver’s seat.  The victim told the Deputy that Gunn drove the vehicle towards him in an attempt to run him over.

Gunn and Deaton-Crooks then left the scene in the vehicle they were occupying.  Deputies discovered a physical manifestation of injuries on the victim.  The victim was transported to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

As the investigation continued, Deputies located the vehicle at an address on Boomdocks Drive, near Walhalla, and made contact with a female identified as Moore.  Deputies learned that Moore was also a passenger in the vehicle.  Deputies discovered a quantity of Methamphetamine on Moore.

At that time, Gunn and Deaton-Crooks were not located on the scene when Moore was arrested.  Moore was then transported to jail.

Gunn and Deaton-Crooks were located later Tuesday on Boomdocks Drive and transported to the Detention Center on their charges.

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Gunn had struck the victim in the head and torso with spiked brass knuckles, which caused injuries to the victim.  Also, Deaton-Crooks caused injuries to the victim by striking him in the head and torso with his fists and feet, according to an arrest warrant.

Also according to an arrest warrant, Moore provided her vehicle as transportation for herself, Gunn and Deaton-Crooks to locate and assault the victim.  The arrest warrant also states that Moore’s vehicle was used a weapon in an attempt to murder the victim.

At this time, Moore, Gunn and Deaton-Crooks remain in jail.  Moore was given a combined $30,000 surety bond, Gunn was given a combined $225,000 surety bond and Deaton-Crooks was given a $100,000 surety bond.  All three will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should any of them be released from jail.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
