Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests West Union Man in Criminal Sexual Assault Investigation

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A West Union man remains in jail today, after his bond was denied, on charges related to a Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor investigation. 

 

39 year old Daniel Christopher Harman has been charged with 26 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – First Degree and 27 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree.

 

Harman was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 11:47am Monday by a Deputy assigned to the Warrants Unit.

 

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on September 26th of this year after a family member and the victim reported to the Sheriff’s Office that the victim, who is a minor, had been sexually assaulted by Harman.   The investigation was turned over to a Violent Crimes Investigator with the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

 

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Harman had inappropriately touched the victim on multiple occasions between the years of 2018 to 2020. 

 

According to the arrest warrants, Harman performed a sex act on the victim, while also having the victim perform a sex act on him between the years of 2020 to 2022.  Evidence was also obtained during the investigation that showed Harman engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim in years of 2021 to 2022. 

 

The victim in this investigation was a child and later a teenager when the crimes occurred. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing with the investigation.  In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, in any way, identify the minor victim in this case.
