(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A West Union man remains in jail today, on a $50,000 surety bond, after his arrest on an outstanding charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – Second Degree.

20 year old Wilson Nahun Figuero-Argueta, of Winstead Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 12:19am Monday.  Figuero-Argueta will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released from jail.

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation back in October of 2022 after a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau received information that a teenager had been sexually assaulted.

The Department of Social Services was notified and an Investigator assigned to the Violent Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau was also notified and took over the investigation.

As the investigation continued, and evidence was gathered in the case, it was determined that Figuero-Argueta had sexual relations with the victim in 2022 and was subsequently charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – Second Degree.

At the time of the incident, Figuero-Argueta was 17 years old.  According to Investigators, a juvenile who is charged with a Class A, B or C felony can be tried as an adult.

The Investigator in the case consulted with the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could in any way, either directly or indirectly, identify the minor victim in this investigation.
