Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Westminster Man on Trafficking in Fentanyl Charge

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Westminster man remains in jail today, on a $75,000 surety bond, after his arrest last week on a charge of Trafficking in Fentanyl.

 

23 year old Robert Joseph Wilbanks, of John Smith Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:08am last Thursday, December 25th

 

Last Wednesday evening, December 24th, a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau, who was on patrol in Walhalla, executed a traffic stop on a white Toyota car for a traffic violation on S. College Avenue and W. Wesley Street.  The vehicle was occupied by two adult males and one adult female.  Wilbanks was a passenger in the backseat. 

 

After receiving permission from the owner of the vehicle to conduct a search, Deputies located drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle.  During a search of all three occupants of the vehicle, Deputies discovered a quantity of Fentanyl that fell from Wilbanks’ person to the ground. 

 

Wilbanks was placed under arrest and transported to jail while the other adult male and the adult female were released from the scene. 

 

Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, approximately 7.5 grams of Fentanyl was seized.  Subsequently, Wilbanks was charged with Trafficking in Fentanyl. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigations.
