(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Westminster woman remains in jail today, pending a bond hearing, after her arrest yesterday on a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine as the result of a traffic stop.

44 year old Misty Dawn Edwards, of Cornelia Avenue, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 11:52am Thursday.  Edwards was also served with an outstanding General Sessions Bench Warrant.

Yesterday morning, a Deputy assigned to the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement (P.A.C.E.) team executed a traffic stop on a vehicle on Sandifer Boulevard, near Seneca, due to a traffic violation.  The Deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Edwards.

Dispatch made the Deputy aware, after a check of Edwards’ information, that her driver’s license had been suspended.  The Deputy was also informed that Edwards had an active bench warrant.

After an observation of drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle by a second P.A.C.E. Deputy who was on scene, a K-9 Deputy was deployed to conduct a free-air sniff of the vehicle.  The K-9 Deputy gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, with Deputies locating a quantity of narcotics inside of the vehicle, which included Methamphetamine.  The vehicle was towed from the scene and Edwards was placed under arrest and transported to jail.

The Methamphetamine seized from the traffic stop weighed approximately 11.6 grams.  Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, an arrest warrant on a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine was obtained against Edwards.

Edwards was also given a courtesy summons on charges of Driving under Suspension and Simple Possession of Marijuana.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
