Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Charges Clemson Man with First Degree Burglary

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Clemson man, who was arrested on a Grand Larceny charge last Friday, was served arrest warrants today on charges related to a separate crime that occurred on the Utica Mill Hill on November 23rd

 

34 year old Jamel Deshawn Brown, of Walker Street, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center, at around 9:36am, on November 28th on the Grand Larceny charge.  Brown was given a $10,000 surety bond on that charge. 

 

Brown, who is still in custody at the Detention Center, was served arrest warrants today on charges of First Degree Burglary, Assault and Battery – 1st Degree and Malicious Injury to Property in reference to a burglary and assault investigation that occurred near Seneca.   

 

According to arrest warrants, Brown is accused of breaking into a home on Ames Street on the night of November 23rd.  During the commission of the crime, Brown armed himself with a knife and threatened to use the deadly weapon, according to the arrest warrants. 

 

Brown is also accused that night with assaulting an adult male by striking him in the face with his hand and spitting on him.  Brown also caused damage to a door of the residence during the burglary. 

 

In the separate Grand Larceny investigation, Brown was charged with stealing a Venom BFT 50 Moped from a victim in a crime that occurred on Singing Pines Road, near Seneca, on November 14th of this year. 

 

At this time, Brown is still awaiting a bond hearing on the charges related to the burglary and assault investigation.  Brown, who also has a listed address on S. Depot Street in Seneca, will required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released from jail.

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigations.
