(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an active death investigation this evening near Westminster.
The E-911/Communications Center received a call around 6:22pm in regards to reports of shots being fired on Hobson Street. When deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division arrived on scene to begin their investigation, they discovered an adult African-American male who had sustained a gunshot wound at a residence in the 400 block of Hobson Street. The man was deceased on the scene at the residence.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division were notified and responded to the scene, along with the Oconee County Coroner’s Office. A deputy from the Crime Scene Unit has been dispatched to the scene to continue collecting evidence.
The investigation is in its early stages, and due to that fact, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing any further information at this time.
