Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Conducting Death Investigation


(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the Oconee County Coroner’s Office are conducting a death investigation after the bodies of a man and woman were discovered inside of a home near Westminster yesterday evening.

 

Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau were dispatched Thursday evening to a residence on Cromer Moore Road, which is near Longcreek Highway, upon discovery of the bodies by a family member.  The last contact with the victims was earlier this week, according to Deputies. 

 

The Criminal Investigations Bureau was notified, as well as the Oconee County Coroner’s Office.  Crime Scene Technicians were also called to the scene to continue to gather evidence.

 

According to a release from the Oconee County Coroner’s Office, the victims have been identified as 76 year old Larry Moore, and his wife, 75 year Sandra Moore.

 

An autopsy has been scheduled to assist with the death investigation and to determine the cause and manner of death. 

 

At this time, Investigators believe that this incident is isolated and there is no danger to the public.  A homicide investigation by the Sheriff’s Office is continuing at this time.    

 

Investigators are requesting that anyone in the area with home security cameras that may have observed something suspicious between Tuesday evening and Thursday morning of this week are asked to contact the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office at 864-638-4111.
