Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Holds Graduation Ceremony for Ninth “Citizens Police Academy”



(Walhalla, SC)------------------A graduation ceremony was held last Tuesday night at Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative for the ninth graduating class of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office “Citizens Police Academy.”


20 citizens of Oconee County graduated from this year’s class. 18 of the graduates, and their families, along with deputies and employees from the Sheriff’s Office, attended the ceremony. The meal was made possible by several businesses that sponsored this year’s CPA.


The graduates completed a 12-week program that met on Tuesday nights during the late summer and fall of this year, plus one Saturday morning.


Among the speakers at last Tuesday night’s graduation ceremony was Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw, Oconee County State Senator Thomas Alexander and the guest speaker, Kyle Thomas, President and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Ridge Bank.


Each graduate received a certificate of graduation and a certificate from the South Carolina State Senate as well as a Challenge Coin.


The Sheriff’s Office is making plans for the 2023 edition of the “Citizens Police Academy” and will be announcing those dates once they are confirmed.
