Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Reported Bomb Threat at Seneca Area Business

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Seneca area business today in regards to reported bomb threat.
The E-911/Communications Center received two calls, one at around 2:22pm, and the other at around 2:30pm, in regards to a bomb threat made to Food Lion, located at BI-LO place in Seneca.
Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to the scene and evacuated the business, along with blocking off pedestrian and vehicular access to the business. Deputies also began an investigation into the threat made as Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Bureau also responded to the scene.
A Bomb Technician from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, along with K-9 Explosive Detection Dogs, and their handlers, from the Clemson University Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
A search of the store was conducted and no explosive devices were located. The search of the store ended around 4:04pm and employees were allowed back into the store at around 4:05pm. The Sheriff’s Office also cleared from the scene thereafter.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
