Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Issues Release on Saturday Evening Pursuit near Seneca

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------On Saturday evening at around 11:15pm, a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau, on routine patrol in the area of Clemson Boulevard and Wells Highway, observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed towards Seneca. 

 

The Deputy initiated a traffic stop on the motorcycle and observed that the motorcycle did not have a tag.  The driver of the motorcycle did not pull over and a pursuit began.  The Deputy also observed the driver of the motorcycle driving recklessly by swerving toward a truck that was traveling beside it.  The driver was also observed driving through the median and passing cars in the oncoming lanes. 

 

Deputies estimated the speed of the motorcycle to be in excess of 100 miles per hour.

 

The pursuit continued into the city of Seneca, with a Deputy stopping and warning traffic at the Miracle Circle intersection as the pursuit came through. 

 

The pursuit continued onto Sheep Farm Road off of Highway 123.  The driver lost control of the motorcycle on Sheep Farm Road and wrecked.  No Deputies were involved in the accident. 

 

Deputies located the driver, a female later identified as by the Oconee County Coroner’s Office as 16 year old Olivia Morgan Sanchez of Gray Court, SC.  Aid was administered on scene by Deputies and Paramedics. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a standard procedure of an internal review in relation to policy.
