Oconee County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T Team Activated for Barricaded Subject

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team was activated this afternoon in reference to a barricaded subject at a residence near Westminster. 

 

Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau were dispatched at around 3:39pm to an address on Harry’s Drive, near the Coffee Road, in reference to a domestic disturbance in which an adult male made threats of harm towards himself and an adult female. 

 

Deputies were also told that the adult male had a weapon with him inside of the residence. 

 

After arriving on scene, Deputy’s attempted to reach out to the adult male in order to resolve the situation peacefully.  When those attempts failed, the Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team was activated.

 

Deputies continued to make efforts to make contact with the male subject in order to resolve the situation peacefully.  At around 7:10pm, the S.W.A.T. team began to make efforts to resolve the situation.    

 

At 8:12pm, the S.W.A.T. team made entry into the residence.  At 8:32pm, the adult male was taken into custody. 

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and further information, including the name of the person taken into custody, will be released at the appropriate time.
