(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------An Oconee County man remains in jail today, on a combined $510,000 surety bond, after his arrest on two counts of Attempted Murder in relation to a shooting incident this occurred this past Sunday afternoon near Seneca.
36 year old Zachary Aaron Hare Poole was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 10:22pm Monday. Poole was transported from AnMed Medical Center in downtown Anderson to jail.
Poole, who was also charged with one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Violent Felony, will have to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released from jail.
Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on Return Church Road late Sunday afternoon in reference to a reported shooting incident. When Deputies arrived, they discovered an adult male who had suffered two gunshot wounds. Paramedics also arrived on scene and transported the male to the hospital.
During the course of the investigation, Deputies obtained information that two adult males were arguing on the property of the residence when one of the males, later identified as Poole, fired shots from a gun that struck the victim. Poole then left the scene, before Deputies arrived, as a passenger in a vehicle that was driven by an adult female.
A shot that was fired from Poole’s gun also struck a vehicle that was occupied by a separate adult female that was also on the property at the time of the incident. The female inside of the victim was not struck by gunfire and did not sustain any injuries.
The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Bureau. An Investigator obtained the arrest warrants against Poole.
Due to the nature of the crime, and for personal safety and health care privacy reasons, the names of the victims, nor the condition of the victim injured, will not be released.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
