Two Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Suffer Dog Bites Friday

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------Two Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies suffered dog bites during the performance of their official duties on Friday.

Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says a Deputy this morning was serving a civil paper in Mountain Rest. He was bitten from behind on his lower leg by a Rottweiler. The deputy did not require medical attention.

Earlier this afternoon, Sheriff Crenshaw says another deputy was attempting to serve an arrest warrant in the Townville area when a pit bull ran past the property owner and bit the deputy on his upper right arm. The deputy was transported by EMS to Greenville where he is receiving medical treatment. Animal Control responded and further investigation is ongoing.

“Our deputies face risks every day,” said Sheriff Crenshaw.   “I am thankful that both are expected to make a full recovery.”

Due to health safety and privacy reasons, the names of the Deputies, as well as their specific medial conditions, will not be released at this time.

Any additional information will be released by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office at the appropriate time.
