(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------63 days ago today, 16 year old Cooper Bryant Crawford was reported missing to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office after leaving his home on West-Oak Highway near Townville.
Since that time, the Missing Person’s Unit has followed up on leads in reference to Cooper’s whereabouts. Those tips have run dry, which has led Investigators today to ask for the public’s help in locating Cooper and bringing him back home to his family.
Today’s news release is the fourth such release issued by the Sheriff’s Office in relation to locating Cooper. When Cooper left his house on January 2nd of this year, his clothing description was unknown and his direction of travel was unknown. Cooper is approximately 5’11” tall and he weighs approximately 170 pounds. Cooper has dark brown hair and blue eyes.
After being reported missing by a family member, the Missing Person’s Unit was notified and began to follow up on any tips and information regarding Cooper’s whereabouts. Cooper was listed as missing in the National Crimes Information Center database. The Missing Person’s Unit has spoken with his family and others who know him throughout this search.
Information on Cooper was disseminated to media outlets, including in the Charlotte, NC area. Posts were made on the Sheriff’s Office social media sites and through Crimestoppers as well. Investigators have also partnered with Agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division in reference to the search for Cooper.
“Our number one goal in any search for a missing person is to locate that person safely and notify their families and bring them home safely,” says Captain Jimmy Dixon of the Missing Person’s Unit with the Criminal Investigations Bureau. “Since our initial request for information on Cooper’s whereabouts, the amount of tips and information has unfortunately decreased.
“The goal, however, remains the same.” according to Captain Dixon. “That is why we are asking for any tips or information on Cooper’s whereabouts as we want to keep his name and
picture in the public eye because we believe that someone knows where he is. We are asking for help from our media partners and others to help us do that so we can locate Cooper.”
