Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Announces 2024 Faith and Blue Weekend Schedule


(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing today the schedule of local events in celebration of 2024 National Faith and Blue Weekend. 

 

     This year, National Faith and Blue Weekend is scheduled from Friday, October 11th thru Sunday, October 13th.

 

     “Back in 2020, the first National Faith and Blue Weekend was held.  The goal for Faith and Blue Weekend was, and still is, to build bridges between law enforcement agencies, and the citizens they serve, through the efforts of the faith community and houses of worship,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw.  “We have stated previously that the greatest partnership we have, in law enforcement, is with our citizens.  National Faith and Blue Weekend allows us to continue to work for forge relationships with those we serve to continue to promote a safer Oconee.” 

 

     Below is the schedule of local events for the Oconee County celebration of the 2024 National Faith and Blue Weekend:

 

· On Friday, October 11th, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will be holding our 2nd Annual “Faith and Blue Clergy Luncheon” from 12Noon until 2pm.  The luncheon will be hosted this year by former 3rd District U.S.  Congressman Gresham Barrett on his Road Work Retreat property in Westminster, SC.  The Luncheon is open only to Senior Clergy of Houses of Worship here in Oconee County and Law Enforcement Officers who serve in Oconee County.  The Luncheon is not open to the public.  During the Luncheon, Mr. Barrett will be sharing with those in attendance his new ministry initiative entitled “Mission Oconee.” 

 

The Registration Deadline for the “Faith and Blue Clergy Luncheon” is Friday, October 4th.  To RSVP, please call the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office at 864-638-4117 or 864-638-4118.


· On Saturday, October 12th, the first “Faith and Blue Festival” will be held at Norton Thompson Park in downtown Seneca from 10am until 3pm.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Cook-Team will be serving food and the “Pops with Cops” team will be on hand to serve popsicles during the event.  Equipment from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will be on display and the Sheriff’s Office K-9 team will be doing demonstrations.

 

Among the activities for the first “Faith and Blue Festival” will be Basketball and Volleyball courts set up for Middle and High School students and adults, Worship Teams and Bands will be providing music and televisions on site will be showing the day’s college football games.  Plus, guest speakers are also planned to share words of encouragement with those attending the event.

 

Coinciding with the “Faith and Blue Festival,” the Seneca River Baptist Association will be holding an indoor and outdoor yard sale the same day from 8:30am until 1pm at their location in Seneca.  The fundraiser is being held to raise money for the Seneca River Baptist Association Facility, which is located at 298 S. Poplar Street.  Donation boxes for the Seneca River Baptist Association will be set up at Norton Thompson Park during the Festival.   

 

· Also, at worship services held during National Faith and Blue Weekend, the Sheriff’s Office is asking that clergy and congregations recognize law enforcement officers in attendance and to pray for law enforcement and our communities.  Also, if any law enforcement officers would like to address their respective churches and houses of worship during those services, the Sheriff’s Office encourages those churches and houses of worship to allow them to do so.
