Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Fair Play Man on Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Charge

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Fair Play man yesterday on an arrest warrant that charges him with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 3rd Degree.


43 year old Edward Arthur Gotham was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:09pm. Gotham was given a $10,000 personal recognizance bond and was released from the Detention Center on an electronic monitoring device as a condition of bond.


A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division was notified and began an investigation on March 10th of this year in regards to reports of inappropriate touching between Gotham and a child.


As the investigation continued, and evidence was gathered in the case, it was determined that Gotham inappropriately touched the child sometime between June 1st and November 30th of 2020. The investigation only involved one victim.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not release any information, including the age and sex of the child, the incident location and the relationship between the arrestee and the victim, or any other information that could, in anyway, identify the victim in this case.
