Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Oconee County Man in Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Investigation

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------An Oconee County man remains in jail today after his arrest last Friday evening on two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree.

 

20 year old Andrew Carter Holbrooks was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 9:27pm on Friday, July 10th.  During an initial appearance before a Judge, Holbrooks was denied bond on the two charges.  Holbrooks will appear before a Circuit Court Judge, at a later date, regarding his bond.

 

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began on July 9th after a Deputy assigned to the Uniform Patrol Bureau filed a report concerning alleged sexual activity between Holbrooks and the victim, who is a child.  The reported sexual activity took place at a residence near Walhalla on June 17th of this year.

 

The investigation was assigned to a Violent Crimes Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau.  Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, and after consultations with a  Judge, the Investigators obtained the two arrest warrants against Holbrooks.

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  In order to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, and that of the minor victim, the Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, in any way either directly or indirectly, identify the minor victim in this case.
