(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man last Friday afternoon on two arrest warrants, including a warrant on a charge of Kidnapping.
37 year old Christopher Lathaniel Cunningham was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center, on Friday, July 24th, at around 3:22pm. Cunningham was booked into jail by a Deputy assigned to the Warrants Unit. Cunningham was also charged in the same incident with Assault and Battery – 3rd Degree.
Cunningham was released from jail on Sunday, July 26th after posting bond. Cunningham received a combined $11,000 surety bond on the two charges.
The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on July 19th of this year after a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to a business location at BI-LO place near Seneca. The Deputy made contact with the victim, an adult male.
During the course of the investigation, the Deputy learned that Cunningham had reportedly assaulted the victim by grabbing the victim’s shirt and making threats to physically harm the victim or send him to the hospital. The Deputy was also advised that Cunningham prevented the victim from leaving a locker room at the business, seized the victim’s phone and ordered the victim not to use his phone.
Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, and after a consultation with a Judge, arrest warrants were obtained against Cunningham.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
