Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Seizes Meth Lab and Pill Press during Execution of Search Warrant

(Walhalla, SC)————————————–A Methamphetamine lab and a pill press have been seized today during the execution of a search warrant by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

Narcotics Agents and deputies from the Special Operations Bureau executed the search warrant around 10:45am today at 4725 Toccoa Highway, which is near Jenkins Bridge Road. The search warrant was obtained due to purchase of Methamphetamine and Oxycodone by undercover operatives working at the direction of the Sheriff’s Office.

Due to the discovery of the Methamphetamine lab, Narcotics agents requested Hazmat units to respond to the scene, as well as a Clean Up crew, due to the presence of hazardous chemicals and substances.

Paramedics were also staged close-by in case those involved in the search warrant became ill. As of right now, there were no reports of illness or injuries.

According to Captain Ken Washington of the Special Operations Division, pill presses can be used to make pills that are made of Fentanyl into pills that look like other prescription medication. Captain Washington says that could increase the likelihood of an overdose should an individual take what they believe to be a prescription pill and not realize it is made of Fentanyl.

The Sheriff’s Office did obtain arrest warrants against the homeowner, 29 year old Colby Edward Watts. Watts was been placed under arrest today on charges of Distribution of Methamphetamine and Distribution of Oxycodone. Watts will be transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation at this time and more charges could be pending.
