(Walhalla, SC)----------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Fair Play man yesterday on a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine after a Wednesday afternoon traffic stop.
47 year old Claude Allen Williams of S. Davis Drive was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 5:39pm. Williams was also served two outstanding arrest warrants on charges of Forgery and Grand Larceny.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division observed a SUV, towing a motorcycle on a trailer, yesterday on S. Highway 11. The driver, identified as Williams, had two outstanding arrest warrants. Investigators relayed information on the SUV and driver to deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division.
Patrol Division deputies made a traffic stop on the vehicle on Snow Creek Church Road near Highway 59. After confirming the outstanding arrest warrants through dispatch, Williams was placed into custody. Deputies also confirmed that Williams’ license was suspended and he was issued a citation for Driving under Suspension.
A search of the SUV by an Investigator and a Patrol deputy produced a quantity of Methamphetamine. Based upon the amount recovered, an arrest warrant was obtained against Williams for Trafficking in Methamphetamine.
The charges for Forgery and Grand Larceny stem from a separate investigation. According to arrest warrants obtained by an Investigator, Williams is charged with forging a counterfeit invoice for building supplies at a Fair Play area business. Williams is also charged with stealing lumber and building supplies from the same business as well.
At this time, Williams remains in custody, at the Detention Center, on a combined $41,270.00 surety bond.
