OCSO Arrests Oconee County Man on Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Charge

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Oconee County man yesterday on three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree.


30 year old Eddie Hubert Derrick, who has listed addresses in Westminster and Seneca, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 7:05pm Monday. Derrick was transported from the McCormick County Sheriff’s Office to the Oconee County Detention Center yesterday.


At this time, Derrick remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center. Derrick was given a $25,000 surety bond on one of the charges and awaits a bond hearing on the other two charges.


The Sheriff’s Office began its investigation on July 12th after a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau spoke with a family member of the teenage victim regarding allegations of a sexual assault. The investigation was turned over an Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau.


As a result of the evidence obtained during the investigation, Derrick has been charged with engaging in sexual conduct with the victim as well as physically forcing the victim to perform a sex act upon him, as the minor was a victim of aggravated coercion, according to arrest warrants.


The incidents occurred during 2021, according to the arrest warrants.


The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, in any way, identify the minor in this case.
