OCSO Arrests Westminster Man on Charges Related to Burglary and Larceny of Seneca Area Business

Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing today a second arrest in an investigation into a February 2021 burglary and larceny at a Seneca area business.


46 year old Johnathan Douglas Swanson, Sr. of Latirobe Road in Westminster was placed under arrest yesterday by investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division during a warrant service at Swanson, Sr.’s home address. Swanson, Sr. had outstanding arrest warrants charging him with two counts of Grand Larceny and one count of Third Degree Burglary in relation to a break in and theft at a business in the 7000 block of Wells Highway on or about February 22nd.


According to arrest warrants, Swanson, Sr. is accused of breaking into a building on the business property. Swanson, Sr. is also accused of stealing tree cutting equipment and a Ford F550 truck from the business as well. According to arrest warrants, the equipment stolen was valued at more than $10,000. According to investigators, the stolen truck was valued at around $80,000.


The truck that was stolen was discovered submerged in a creek in the area of Bridge Road and Jenkins Bridge Road, which is near the Madison Community. The investigation into the submerged truck was handled by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.


During the warrant service yesterday, a quantity of Methamphetamine was discovered on Swanson, Sr.’s person. Based upon the evidence gathered, Swanson, Sr. was also charged with one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.


At this time, Swanson, Sr. remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.


Also charged by investigators in regards to the Seneca area business burglary and larceny was 24 year old Kenneth Charles Goss, also of Latirone Road in Westminster. Goss was charged with one count each of Grand Larceny and Third Degree Burglary.


Goss was served his arrest warrants at the Oconee County Detention Center on March 4th. Goss was arrested on unrelated charges on February 24th of this year. Goss was released from the Detention Center on Tuesday, May 4th and turned over to the custody of the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
