(Walhalla, SC)————————————–The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Westminster man with one count each of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and a Sex Offender Registry Violation.

36 year old Douglas Alan Singer was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 8:30pm yesterday. At this time, Singer remains in jail on a combined $15,000 surety bond.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began yesterday morning in regards to a welfare check on a reported kidnapping subject at the Seneca Walmart location. The subject, who is a teenager, told the deputy that they had been brought to the business by a person they met online.

The Investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. Investigators determined that the teenager was not kidnapped and was picked up willingly in a neighboring county by an adult male, who was identified as Singer. The minor was turned over yesterday to family members.

Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, Investigators obtained charges against Singer for providing marijuana to the victim in order to solicit sex. Also, Singer was charged with not providing his Facebook account information to the Sheriff’s Office as required under the court ordered guidelines for being a registered sex offender.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and will not provide any information that could, either directly or indirectly, identify the minor in this case.
