OCSO Arrests Westminster Man on Multiple Charges Related to Domestic Violence

(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man yesterday on multiple outstanding arrest warrants related to domestic violence investigation.


36 year old Justin Brian Lawless of Stone Farm Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:06pm. Lawless was arrested at his residence during a warrants service by investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division.


Lawless was charged with one count each of Kidnapping, Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime, Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person and Domestic Violence – 1st Degree. The crimes occurred between April 28th and April 29th at the Stone Farm Road address, according to arrest warrants.


A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division spoke with the victim by phone on May 4th regarding the late April incident and began an investigation by gathering facts in the case. The case was turned over to an investigator with the Criminal Investigations Division.


On Tuesday of this week, an investigator met in person with the victim to continue to gather evidence in the case. Based upon the evidence gathered, the investigator obtained arrest warrants against Lawless.


According to arrest warrants, Lawless assaulted the victim, pointed a pistol at her and took her phone to prevent her from calling law enforcement. Lawless also unlawfully confined the victim inside the residence for a period of time, according to the evidence gathered.


At this time, Lawless remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center as his bond was denied on all charges. Lawless will appear before a Circuit Court Judge at a later time regarding his bond.
