Search Continues Today in Oconee County for Missing Greenville County Man

Mark Patrick Wagnon

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A search is continuing today in Oconee County for a missing Greenville County man.

Search operations were modified overnight due to darkness and rough terrain in the search area near where the vehicle was discovered and around Oconee State Park.  The overnight operations consisted of dog teams and the use of drones.  The search operations fully resumed with sunrise this morning.  At this time, Mark Patrick Wagnon has not been located.

The E-911/Communications Center received a call late yesterday morning regarding a gray 2010 Nissan Sentra which was located on Tower Road near Highway 107.  The vehicle was located at a gate that was secured.  Keys were found inside of the vehicle but no one was located inside of the vehicle.

Yesterday afternoon, Oconee County Emergency Services established a unified command at Oconee State Park with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office in the search for Mark.

Mark is 5’7” tall and weighs 158 pounds.  Mark has a white beard and wears brownish black glasses.  He was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and blue jeans.

Other agencies that are involved in the search today are Greenville County Emergency Management, Mountain Rest Fire Department, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, Prisma EMS, the South Carolina Department of Natural of Resources, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the South Carolina State Parks and the United States Forest Service.  The South Carolina Emergency Management Division was also notified yesterday.

Also, volunteer search groups have been organized and are aiding public safety agencies in the search for Mark.

Unified Command is continuing to seek the public’s help in locating Mark.  If you see anyone matching his description, please call 911 immediately.  Unified Command is recommending that citizens check around homes and for footage for any door
