(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------A Seneca man was arrested yesterday afternoon, by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, on charges of First Degree Burglary and Malicious Injury to Property.

21 year old Robert Sawyer Redmond, of N. Cherry Street, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 2:39pm.  Redmond was taken into custody during a traffic stop yesterday afternoon, by an Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau, at the intersection of Sitton Mill Road and Friendship Road near Seneca.

A Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to an address on Haddington Way, near W. Cherry Road, on the evening of Saturday, November 23rd, in regards to a report of a burglary.  When the Deputy arrived on scene, he spoke with the victim, an adult female, who stated that Redmond had broken into the house and into her room as well.

As the investigation continued, the Deputy observed where Sawyer had reportedly entered the residence.  The Deputy also observed blood in the victim’s room and items that were damaged inside of the room.  The damaged items included a broken picture frame, reportedly broken by Redmond, which caused lacerations to his hands, and a broken perfume bottle.

The Investigation was turned to an Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau.  Based upon evidence obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Redmond had entered the residence during the nighttime.  Besides the broken picture frame and perfume bottle, Redmond also damaged the victim’s property by smearing blood on her sheets.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.

Redmond was given a combined $27,205.00 surety bond.  Redmond was released from jail today after posting bond.
