Douglas Alan Cranfill

(Walhalla, SC)-------------------------------------The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a West Union man late last week on a charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree.

37 year old Douglas Alan Cranfill, of Davis Hill Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 1:54pm on Friday, July 12th.  Cranfill was released from jail last Saturday after receiving a $25,000 personal recognizance bond.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began on July 9th of this year after a Deputy from the Uniform Patrol Bureau spoke to a family member of the victim regarding reports of a sexual assault.  The Investigation was turned over to a Violent Crimes Investigator with the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Based upon evidence that was obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Cranfill touched the victim in a sexual manner back on July 7th of this year.  According to the arrest warrant, Cranfill also manipulated the limbs of the victim to massage himself for sexual gratification.  The case involves only one victim.

The arrest warrant against Cranfill was obtained after a presentation of the evidence by the Investigator to a Judge.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  Due to the nature of the crime, as well as protecting the integrity of the investigation and that of the minor victim, the Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, either directly or indirectly, identify the minor victim in this case.
