Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Greenville County Man in Two Separate Property Crime Investigations

(Walhalla, SC)---------------------------------A Greenville man remains in jail tonight, on a combined $125,000 surety bond, after his arrest this week on charges related to two separate property crime investigations, including one investigation in which he is accused of stealing a skid steer valued at approximately $110,000 from a construction site.
28 year old Melvin Leonel Saravia Carbrera, of Cathey Street and Jerusalem Circle, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 12:40pm on Tuesday of this week on charges of Grand Larceny and Receiving Stolen Goods.
Saravia Cabrera was transported from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office by a Deputy assigned to the Warrants Unit.
In the Grand Larceny investigation, the Sheriff’s Office began the investigation during the afternoon of Wednesday, May 27th of this year in relation to the theft of a Takeuchi skid steer that was taken from the construction site of the new Target store on Retail Road near Seneca. The skid steer was eventually recovered from an address near Pelzer on May 28th.
In reference to the Receiving Stolen Goods investigation, Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded on May 16th of this year to an address on Chetola Road, off of Boutyland Road, in reference to a report of a stolen 24-foot flatbed Stoll trailer, which is valued at between $10,000 and $12,000 dollars. The trailer was recovered on June 15th of this year.
The Investigation was turned over to a Property Crimes Investigator assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau. According to evidence obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Saravia Carbrera stole the skid steer from the construction site of the new Target Store near Seneca. Also, Investigators obtained evidence that Saravia Cabrera was in possession of the stolen trailer, knowing at the time that the property was stolen.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. A hold has been placed on Saravia Cabrera by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. Saravia Cabrera will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should he be released from jail.
