Joshua Eugene Bryant
(Walhalla, SC)--------------------------------------Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division, responding to the Salem area on a warrants service Saturday morning, arrested a Salem man on multiple charges, including an outstanding warrant for First Degree Burglary.
41 year old Joshua Eugene Bryant was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 9:26am. Bryant is also charged with one count each of Possession of a Prescription Drug without a Prescription, Malicious Injury to Personal Property, Domestic Violence – 1st Degree and Domestic Violence – 3rd Degree.
At this time, Bryant remains in custody at the Detention Center on a combined $59,250.00 surety bond on the Sheriff’s Office charges. Bryant was also served with six General Sessions Bench Warrants and one Magistrates Bench Warrant.
Deputies located Bryant at a make shift shelter at an address on Murphy Drive this past Saturday morning. While taking Bryant into custody, Bryant had in his possession a glass vial of a prescription drug known as Xylocaine-MPF, without a prescription. Based upon the evidence discovered, Bryant was charged with having the drug without a prescription.
The additional arrest warrants obtained by Uniform Patrol deputies against Bryant stemmed from three separate investigations, all of which occurred this year at the Murphy Drive address and all of which involved the same victim.
The charge of Domestic Violence – 3rd Degree stems from an incident that occurred on the morning of October 29th in which Bryant assaulted his former girlfriend.
One month prior, on September 29th, the same victim discovered Bryant inside her home without her consent. Bryant assaulted the victim, while committing the First Degree Burglary charge, leading deputies to charge Bryant with Domestic Violence – 1st Degree.
Deputies also obtained an arrest warrant against Bryant on the Malicious Injury charge after Bryant caused damage to a camper, belonging to the same victim, on the property by breaking out the front door window on September 25th.
